This daycare center, “Kita unterm Regenschirm”, is a 280 m² space delightfully designed so children can feel happy, play, and grow. The children’s day nursery is a renovated part of a former hospital in Berlin. Everything in this daycare center has to do with clouds, wind and weather.

A cloud landscape decorates the entire day nursery: clouds painted in the wall color in different grades of luster; clouds made up of linoleum and blackboard paints; or clouds of concrete decorate the walls – partly in whiteboard color – as it is used as a information board for the parents.

In the cloakroom, the clothes hang on raindrop-shaped hooks. Each child has a fabric bag for storing diapers and change of clothes. Together, the fabric bags form a rainbow.

A small courtyard with a terrace serves as a retreat into nature.

In the hallway, there is a rainbow on the wall which transforms itself into a podium and a stage!

A real hightlight of the kindergarten is the kids bathroom. baukind developed exclusively for this project a round washbasin with lots of water play features. kids play here for hours!
